New Lawsuit Featured in The Oregonian Exposes Gig Economy Dangers

The Oregonian featured a $16 million wrongful death lawsuit filed by Spooner Staggs Trial Lawyers last week. The suit alleges that an Instacart delivery driver, distracted by the company’s app, struck and killed a pedestrian.

Ralph Spooner is quoted in the article saying: “These tech companies make huge profits while the drivers barely make a living wage[.] They certainly should be held accountable when the drivers cause an accident while making a delivery seriously injuring or killing someone.”

This case underscores the dangers of app-based distractions and the gig economy and raises important questions about the safety measures gig economy companies must implement to protect the public. We are committed to seeking justice on behalf of our client.
